THIS IS ME ! — I’ll tell you a little story my darlinks…..way back when I was coaching figure skating there was a couple of Russian coaches at the rink, one whose name was Slava. He always eye balled me when our students had near misses on the ice and generally just looked down on me. He constantly tried to poach my best students but they never caved in to his bullying tactics because they enjoyed having me as coach . One day we got into a heated discussion over rights of way on the ice in the coaches room. I had 1 skate on and 1 skate off cause I was always the last off the ice.
He had tried to poach my best student at the time and her mother had just told me that he had approached her to coach my student. I was livid. There seemed no limits to his underhandedness and arrogance.
As our argument over ice ettiquette and coach ethics escalated he shouted at me “You are not Russian” to which I bellowed back at him now standing on my 1 skate so I could be nose to nose with him
“Yes, you are right!. I am not Russian. I am UKRAINIAN !!. AND I , LIKE MY COUNTRY OF BIRTH, will not be bullied by some magnanimous arrogant Russian PR!@& !!!”
Sound like anyone else you can think of in the limelight right now ??
After that verbal altercation Slava and I actually progressed to talking terms, even sharing the occasional student for coaching.
Moral of the story, – stand up to bullies.
Ukraine has been doing that for decades and now has to do it again on a gigantic scale. Get behind the Ukranians any way you can – if only even by your thoughts. Putrid Putin is an abhorrent sub-human entity who is not worthy to be equal to the maggots who will eventually chew through his pathetic remains in his grave.
And to my Russian friends out there, and I have a few — this post does not mean to offend any of you whatsoever. I’m sure you can understand the reasoning behind the rant.
