What does colour mean to you ??
I think everyone is naturally drawn to certain colours more than others – for whatever reason. Mine is purple. Every purple. From your palest pastel lilac to the deep intense and bluey purple of Dioxazine purple. Check out my award winning Dioxazine Dawn and look for the darkest purple in it and that’s which colour I mean. It just speaks to me, calming and uplifting me in equal measure. It’s a colour I wear often as well, especially when I need to focus and breathe from the madness of daily chores and business. They do say it’s a spiritual colour. I think for the Asian culture it also has a specific meaning. In my ‘ Previous Commissions’ page is a portrait of a mum commissioned by her son and he was very specific about what the colour of her top had to be. I liked that specification from clients. Takes some of the thinking out of what I need to do and portray.
So it was long overdue that I did another alcohol ink painting in my favourite range of purples. Gold compliments it oh so well too. Imagine the deepest of violets trimmed with a sumptuous gold tassel or trim with a black and white inside fur lining. Indulgence or what !!! Fit for a King – or a Queen like me LOL. I would call myself The Queen of Colour though. My Degree in Interior Design just re-inforced it. When we had to mix up paint to match Resene colour swatches from just the primary colours and black and white – I was a natural. Flew through that topic with flying colours – even the instructors were impressed.
Oh I have so much to teach you about colour schemes etc……… I really should blog more. Enjoy my purples.
